A woman is facing theft charges after police say she attempted to leave a Lululemon Athletica store with thousands of dollars worth of unpaid merchandise.
According to investigators, store employees became suspicious after noticing the woman repeatedly gathering large amounts of clothing and moving quickly through different sections of the store. Loss prevention officers reportedly monitored her as she allegedly concealed several high-priced items, including leggings, jackets, and athletic sets.
Police say the suspect attempted to exit the store without paying, carrying merchandise estimated to be worth more than $5,000. Officers waiting outside stopped her before she could leave the shopping center.
Witnesses described the moment as chaotic, saying the woman appeared shocked when confronted by security and police. Authorities recovered the stolen merchandise, much of it still carrying tags and security devices.
The suspect was taken into custody and could face felony theft charges due to the value of the items involved. Investigators are also looking into whether the theft may be connected to organized retail crime operations targeting popular clothing brands.
Store officials thanked employees for quickly reporting the suspicious behavior and cooperating with law enforcement.
