An 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving only days after graduating high school, according to police.
Officers reportedly stopped the teen late at night after noticing the vehicle swerving between lanes and nearly striking a curb. Authorities say the driver showed multiple signs of impairment during the traffic stop, including slurred speech, unsteady movement, and the smell of alcohol coming from the vehicle.
Police allege the teen admitted to drinking earlier in the evening while celebrating graduation with friends. Field sobriety tests were conducted at the scene before the driver was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Investigators said no injuries were reported, but officials emphasized how dangerous the situation could have become, especially with increased traffic from graduation celebrations happening across the area.
The teenager was later released pending court proceedings and could face charges related to underage drinking and impaired driving.
Authorities used the incident as a reminder for young drivers to arrange rides home and avoid getting behind the wheel after consuming alcohol.
