A group of teenagers got an unexpected surprise after police confronted them outside a Target store following an alleged large-scale makeup theft.
According to authorities, store employees became suspicious after noticing the teens repeatedly moving between cosmetic aisles and carrying baskets filled with expensive beauty products. Loss prevention officers reportedly monitored the group through security cameras as they allegedly concealed merchandise and attempted to avoid checkout areas.
Police say officers arrived just as the teens were preparing to leave the store. Body camera footage reportedly captured the shocked reactions when officers approached the group outside and began recovering bags filled with makeup products.
Investigators claim the stolen merchandise included high-end cosmetics, skincare items, and beauty accessories with a total estimated value exceeding $1,000.
Witnesses described the atmosphere as tense and embarrassing as the teens allegedly realized store security had been watching them the entire time. Some reportedly attempted to deny involvement while officers examined the merchandise and reviewed surveillance footage.
Authorities stated that due to the value of the products involved, the suspects could face serious theft-related charges despite their age. Police also noted that organized shoplifting involving cosmetics has become increasingly common because of the products’ high resale value online.
