A woman was arrested after allegedly attempting to leave a Walmart store with hundreds of dollars worth of unpaid merchandise, according to local police.

The incident reportedly took place earlier this week when store security noticed suspicious behavior from a shopper who was seen placing multiple items into bags while moving through different sections of the store.

According to authorities, loss prevention staff monitored the woman as she continued shopping before allegedly bypassing all points of sale and heading toward the exit without paying for the merchandise.

Police were called to the scene and detained the suspect outside the store. Officers later recovered a variety of items, including household goods, clothing, cosmetics, and electronics. The total value of the merchandise was estimated at several hundred dollars.

Witnesses said the situation unfolded quickly as officers questioned the woman near the entrance while shoppers watched from a distance.

One customer told local media that they were surprised by the number of items allegedly involved.

“It seemed like a normal shopping trip at first,” the witness said. “Then suddenly store employees were talking to police outside.”

The woman was taken into custody without incident and transported to the local police department for processing.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding a possible court appearance, but the suspect could face theft-related charges depending on the outcome of the investigation.

Walmart representatives declined to comment on the specific case but stated that the company works closely with law enforcement to address retail theft and maintain a safe shopping environment for customers and employees.

The investigation remains ongoing.
